Born in Venezuela to American parents, artist/instructor Lisa Coddington, grew up in the American suburbs. Folk art gifts from her parents’ travels cultivated her appreciation for global aesthetic diversity.
Now living in Santa Fe, New Mexico surrounded by multi-cultural arts, Lisa gains new views of familiar art forms that transcend language and cultural barriers. Her art depicts forms that are beautiful, sometimes whimsical, and preferably delicious, which remind her of cooking yummy things while raising her three children.
Lisa has received commissions by regional and national firms for her artwork and her art instruction. Her whimsical characters have been licensed for ornaments and are also featured on greeting cards. In 2008 her first illustrated Family Journal was published. Her designs are also applied to home textiles for major retailers. She has exhibited at SURTEX Licensing show in New York City for seven years, and she is a member of the Society of Children Writers and Illustrators and the American Society of Botanical Artists. Lisa earned a Masters of Art degree in 2003 from Syracuse University.
She recently illustrated a children’s picture book which will be published Fall 2010.
